Man Utd need to sign four players even if they buy Chelsea’s Nemanja Matic

That is according to pundit and former Chelsea midfielder Craig Burley.

Manchester United are closing on the signing of Serbian star Matic, who would be their second acquisition of the summer.

Victor Lindelof was the first new face through the doors at Old Trafford, joining from Benfica for a fee of just over £30million.

United are in the market for a centre-forward after the departure of last season’s top scorer Zlatan Ibrahimovic following the expiration of his contract.

Burley also thinks Manchester United need to improve on the wings as Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford are not the answers.

“I still think they will need another three or four (after Matic),” Burley said on ESPN FC.

“Lindelof’s been playing at Benfica but he’s still a relatively young man and this is another step up for him.

“Yes he’s a Swedish international but I still think they need more.

Craig Burley says Man Utd need to improve up front and on the wings

“They need that striker and maybe a back-up to that striker and I still think they need to get a bit more pace out wide.

“(Anthony) Martial hasn’t cut the mustard, we’ve seen (Marcus) Rashford play out there, it’s not his position.

“He’s got to make sure, (Jose) Mourinho, is putting square pegs in square holes, and not the opposite.”
