Every time a Bollywoodmovie releases, before appearing for the final exam in front of the audience, it has to pass the big acid test, called Central Board of Film Certification. The unpredictable CBFC could give out some really unexpected results for the movie, which would affect the release of the movie.
Recently, Shah Rukh Khanand Anushka Sharma starrer ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ had to undergo the acid test with the CBFC and the cut that was issued for the movie created an uproar amongst the audience. CBFC chief Pahlaj Nihalani asked the makers to censor the word “intercourse” in the promo and body of the movie.
Now in an interview with Mirror Now, he asked the public to vote for their decision. He said, ” You take voting from the public and I will clear the word (intercourse) on the promo and the film also. I want 1 lakh votes and I want to see that India has changed and Indian families want their 12-year-old kids to understand the meaning of this word (intercourse).”
Because of this order by Pahlaj Nihalani, the trailer of ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ did not get released along with ‘Tubelight’ for Friday. Nihalani told a leading daily that they have granted a U/A certification to the trailer on condition of deletion of the intercourse dialogue. “They’re yet to come back to us on that. So in principle, the trailer has not been passed yet,” he said.
” They’ve uploaded the uncut trailer on YouTube. The CBFC cannot stop content on the internet. But we can and will stop the broadcast of the uncensored footage on television, ” he added.
